Bach Society of Dayton presents or March concert: Johann Sebastian Bach's St. John Passion

March 5, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

Bach’s St. John Passion

An evocative and beautifully unrelenting oratorio, and one of the greatest choral works of all time!

Johann Sebastian Bach combines his faith in God and his genius for composition to tell the story of Christ’s passion and crucifixion as it is written in the Gospel of John. It’s a tribute to the expressive immediacy of the St. John Passion and the humility and agony of Christ’s final days.

We join forces with soloists, orchestra, and the Kettering Children’s Choir Cappella to perform this masterpiece during the season of Lent.

Concert starts at 4:00pm. Concert preview at 3:00pm with host Sharon Gratto, Professor of Music and Chair of the UD Department of Music.

Performers:
Bach Society Chorus with Orchestra
Kettering Children’s Choir Cappella
Tony Burdette, Tenor, as the Evangelist
Melissa Harvey, Soprano
