"Bach to Vivaldi"
The Bach Society of Dayton opens its 2007-2008
Season with an all-Baroque program featuring
works by Bach and Vivaldi, two of the most significant
composers of the period, whose greatest popularity
came long after their deaths. You will experience,
perhaps for the first time, what is considered
to be Bach’s earliest cantata as well as the
familiar “Autumn” from Vivaldi’s most famous
composition, “The Seasons.”
Cantata 150 (“Nach dir, Herr, verlanget
mich”) - Bach
Cantata 34 (“O ewiges Feuer, O Ursprung
der Liebe!”) - Bach
Autumn from “The Seasons” - Vivaldi
Chamber Mass - Vivaldi

Once again, in our traditional Holiday

Advent Ringers directed by Joan Dorgan, present
a heart-warming selection of seasonal music,
both old and new.

The centerpiece of this concert features two
of Bach’s six motets: BWV 228, possibly the
first that he wrote, and BWV 225, felt by many
to be his most significant motet. As part of
our continuing focus on community outreach and
in keeping with our goal to help encourage the
next generation of choral singers, selected
Xenia High School students under their director,
Brent Manley, will be integrated into the Bach
Society of Dayton Chorus for the motet performances,
in an event we call “Project Sing.”
