Sunday, October 18, 2009, 4:00 p.m. “Christmas Oratorio”

The Bach Society of Dayton opened its 2009-2010 season by presenting three sections from J. S. Bach’s  Christmas Oratorio with orchestra. The program also included his Brandenburg Concerto No. 4.

Sunday, December 6, 2009, 7:30 p.m. “Sweet Sounds of the Holidays”

The Kettering Children’s Choir Chorale directed by Bruce Swank again joined the Bach Society of Dayton and the Kettering Advent Ringers under Joan Ulloth Dorgan to present this seasonal favorite.

Saturday, February 27, 2010, 7:00 p.m. Monteverdi “Vespers of 1610”

The Bach Society joined the Dayton Philharmonic  Orchestra and Chamber Chorus under the baton of Neal Gittleman to present Monteverdi’s monumental “Vespers of 1610" at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Dayton.

Sunday, April 11, 2010, 4:00 p.m. “Follow the Muse”

To nurture the next generation of choral singers, the Bach Society collaborated with The Muse Machine and with Capella,  the college preparatory program of the Kettering Children’s Choir, as selected students from Muse schools and Capella joined with the Bach Society and full orchestra in an exciting performance of music from varied eras in the Baroque period. Sunday, May 23, 2010, 4:00 p.m. “A Choral Sampler”
The Bach Society ended its season with lighter fare, woven into a tapestry of rich choral textures. The program included:

“Zigeunerlieder (Gypsy Songs)” & two motets, “Schaffe in mir, Gott”
& “Geistliches Lied”
– Brahms
“Scenes from the Bavarian Highlands” – Elgar
“Serenade to Music” – Vaughan Williams
“A Jubilant Song” – Dello Joio

The 2009-2010 season included a special January 22, 2010 benefit performance for the Bach Society featuring Peter Schickele and PDQ Bach at the Masonic Center in Dayton.
